The novel by the famous Japanese writer Yasushi Inoue (1907–1991) is dedicated to real events of one of the most striking and dramatic periods of Japanese history. The 16th century is coming to an end. She will become the concubine of the worst enemy of the Asai clan - Taiko Hideyoshi, give birth to an heir, raise a brave warrior and see him off on his last journey on the ruins of the burning Osaka Castle.
