Irwin Shaw (1913–1984) is a prominent American writer, one of the most popular authors of our time. From his pen came such famous novels as “The Young Lions” (1948), “Rich Man, Poor Man” (1970), “The Night Porter” (1975) and many others. A recognized master novelist, Irwin Shaw also created many excellent examples of “short prose.” His short stories are distinguished by the elegance of their style and the accuracy of their characteristics - psychological and social. The second volume of the Complete Collection of Stories includes previously unpublished collections in Russian: “Bet on a Dead Jockey” (1957), “Love on a Dark Street” (1965), “God is Here” was there, but didn’t stay long” (1973).
