The minelayers “Amur” and “Yenisei” occupy a special place in the history of the Russian navy. The combat service of these ships confirmed the correctness of the choice of the main tactical characteristics and design solutions. The original type, a successful project, were complemented by the good quality of work of the shipbuilders of the Baltic Shipyard. Both transports had a speed equal to the latest battleships and could make significant sea crossings as part of a squadron and set up barrages of 900 mines in the shortest possible time off the enemy’s coast. No other fleet in the world had such ships.
