Marlon Brando is a Hollywood star, a sex symbol for several generations, who shone in A Streetcar Named Desire and Modern Apocalypse, Last Tango in Paris and The Godfather. Donald Cammell - fashion artist, cult figure “swinging London” of the 1960s, a man from the “inner circle” of the Rolling Stones, director of the decades ahead of its time thriller “Performance” with Mick Jagger, “The Devil’s Seed” based on the novel by Dean Koontz and many other films about which experts spoke with enthusiastic breath and which failed at the box office with depressing regularity. Their joint project “Tiger of the Iron Sea” began on the Pacific atoll of Tetiaroa, which belonged to Brando. There they wrote the script for a future film about the adventurer Annie Daltrey (he was to be played by Brando) and the captain of the Chinese pirates Madame Lai. While serving a six-month sentence in a Hong Kong prison, Daltrey saves Madame Lai's subordinate from the gallows, and when Daltrey is released, she makes him an offer that he cannot refuse... Nothing came of the film, but a novel was written - first published only in 2005 Now it is offered to the Russian reader.
