Ferrer, the owner of an art gallery in Paris, learns that many years ago the schooner Neshilik, on board which was a valuable collection of objects of ancient Eskimo art, was in disaster in the Far North. He decides to go in search of the treasure, especially since his personal life has collapsed: he recently separated from his wife. Findings and losses are the leitmotif of this detective novel, where the hero either gains or loses treasures and women, wandering between Paris, the icy North and hot Spain.
