Gabriele D'Annunzio (real name Rapagnetta; 1863–1938) was an Italian writer, poet, playwright and politician who had a strong influence on Russian Acmeists. The writer's works are imbued with the spirit of romanticism, heroism, epicureanism, eroticism, and patriotism. By the beginning of the First World War, he was the most famous Italian writer in Europe and the world. The fourth volume of the Collected Works included the novel “The Triumph of Death” and short stories.
