"Вбивство на площі Астор" - це захоплюючий детектив, який переносить читача в атмосферу Нью-Йорка кінця ХІХ століття. Автор майстерно відтворює епоху, надаючи читачеві можливість відчути дух часу через деталі, які оточують героїв. Сюжет розгортається навколо загадкового вбивства, що відбувається в пансіоні, і інтрига тримає в напрузі до самого кінця. Особливо вражає персонаж акушерки Сари Брандт, яка, незважаючи на стереотипи свого часу, проявляє рішучість і сміливість у розслідуванні.
