Margaret Elinor Atwood (b. 1939) is a famous Canadian writer and poet, one of the main figures on the world literary arena, a modern classic, translated into dozens of languages. She has been awarded many prestigious awards with a total of more than fifty - including the Spanish Prince's Award Asturian and French Order of Arts and Letters; first winner of the Arthur C. Clarke Award (for The Handmaid's Tale), seven-time finalist and two-time winner of the Governor General's Award (Canada's highest literary award), five-time finalist for the Man Booker Prize - and winner for his novel The Blind Assassin.
