The book presents two author's collections of early "small prose" by the outstanding Swiss writer Robert Walser (1878-1956) - "The Works of Fritz Kocher" (1904) and "Works" (1913). The genre of these varied, but always witty and original works is difficult to define. The reader will be able to look at the world through the eyes of a schoolboy and a clerk, an artist and a poor writer, a Berlin girl and a fan of a provincial actor. Walser's non-standard, free, “ironically wise” style anticipated the literature of the second half of the 20th century. Both collections are published in Russian for the first time.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
