In search of the truth and meaning of his own life, Mariusz Wilk lived for many years on Solovki, the result of which was the book “Wolf Notebook” - a detailed story about the Solovetsky archipelago and at the same time about Russia, a country that for the Poles became a mythologized “evil empire”. Notes “hot on the heels” are intertwined in the narrative with historical and cultural excursions and reflections. Already formed and richly traditional stereotypes of Poles’ perception of Russia are enriched with vivid, deeply experienced impressions. Through details - colors, smells, sounds - the fate of people, islands, and the country as a whole appears.
