Anton Ivanovich Denikin is one of the most important and colorful figures in Russian history. Noted for his brilliant military leadership talent, he lived a difficult life full of drama, which reflected the complex and contradictory reality of Russia at the end of the 19th and first half of the 20th centuries. His military career was crowned with such global events as the Russo-Japanese, World War I and Civil Wars. He experienced the loud glory of victories and the bitterness of defeats, the hardships of emigration, and wanderings abroad. During the Second World War, the Nazis persuaded the general to cooperate, but he responded with a decisive refusal, because all his life he served only Russia.
