Леді Джейн Грей, яка стала королевою лише на дев'ять днів, постає перед читачем як складна і багатогранна особистість, що мріє про просте життя, але виявляється втягнутою у політичні інтриги та боротьбу за владу. Автор майстерно передає атмосферу епохи Тюдорів, а також внутрішні переживання Джейн, її страхи та надії. Хоча переклад тексту іноді залишає бажати кращого, це не заважає насолоджуватися історією.
