“The Master of Urman” is the story of several families of Old Believers who were exiled by decree of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna to settle in Siberia and went deep into the taiga, away from the “sovereign’s people.” But everything has its price, including freedom. And almost three hundred years later, journalist Kotov stumbles upon this mysterious story, setting out in search of his missing friend, a priest of the Old Believer Church.

Історія кількох сімей, що були заслані до Сибіру, розкриває не лише їхнє життя в умовах дикої природи, але й глибокі людські переживання, які супроводжують їх на цьому шляху. Автор майстерно поєднує історичні факти з вигаданими елементами, створюючи захоплюючий сюжет, який тримає в напрузі до останньої сторінки. Журналіст Котов, що шукає свого зниклого друга, стає своєрідним містком між минулим і сучасним, що додає додаткової глибини до розповіді. Незважаючи на деякі недоліки в перекладі, які, безумовно, не заважають загальному сприйняттю, книга залишає після себе сильне враження. Рекомендую всім, хто цікавиться історією, культурою та людськими драма, які розгортаються на фоні величної природи Сибіру!
