In this book, in the Russian translation called “Descriptive Psychology,” Wilhelm Dilthey criticizes the explanatory approach in psychology, in which they try to study the mental life of a person using methods developed and shown to be productive in the field of natural sciences, and offers his a project of “descriptive” psychology, in which the main method is understanding reduced to humanitarian-scientific rigor.
