1348, the most terrible year in the history of England. The Great Plague came from Europe to the British Isles, sparing neither judges, nor thieves, nor robed priests. A strange company travels through a plague-ravaged country - a crippled old man selling fake relics; musician; traveling magician; a young couple expecting a child; a young man with a swan's wing instead of a hand; girl fortune telling by runes. The destination of the journey is the tomb of John Shorn, a shrine that protects from adversity and disease. But as if an inexorable fate pursues them along the way, a series of deaths and misfortunes befalls the pilgrims, and the reason for this is a secret that each of them reliably hides from others.
