A farce fairy tale in verse about an envious and greedy Rat, who dreams of finding a husband for herself and therefore does not give her blessing for the wedding of her younger sister Masha with a simple guy Vanya. She forces him not only to provide her with a dowry, but also to find a suitable husband for her. Vanya turns to the private marriage agency Kikimora. The matchmaker introduces Rat in turn to Leshiy, Vodyany, and Domovoy. But all meetings end in failure until Kikimora resorts to cunning and brings Kashchei to matchmaking.
