Автор майстерно зобразив складну атмосферу Громадянської війни, де кожен персонаж стикається з моральними дилемами та вибором, який може змінити їхнє життя. Авер'ян Калачов, молодий козак, проходить через важкі випробування, і його шлях від вдячного санітара до вірного соратника Івана Сафронова є справжнім зображенням людської природи. Взаємини між героями, їхня віра та зрада створюють напружений сюжет, який тримає в напрузі до останньої сторінки. Хоча переклад книги має деякі недоліки, це не зменшує загального враження від твору. Рекомендую всім, хто цінує глибокі та емоційні історії про людські стосунки на фоні історичних подій.
