Events in *Echoletia* unfold in a certain provincial town of Lisetsk in the 30s and 80s of the last century. A difficult period of repression fatally changes the life of Vladimir Andreevich Bartenev, a philosophy teacher at Lisetsk University. He was charged with organizing terrorist attacks and participating in anti-Soviet organizations. In the eighties, his grandson, Paul Duval, a French teacher in Tours, takes advantage of his business trip to the USSR and makes every effort to find the grave of his grandfather in Lisieck. Alexey Samoilov, a law student with extraordinary abilities in the field of psychoanalysis and logic, meets Paul Duval and together they begin to investigate the circumstances of Bartenev’s death and almost immediately find themselves drawn into a dangerous whirlpool of KGB games.
