James Clerk Maxwell was one of the most brilliant minds of the 19th century. His work formed the basis of two revolutionary concepts of the next century - the theory of relativity and quantum theory. Maxwell combined electricity and magnetism in a short series of elegant equations that represent the true pinnacle of physics of all time, on par with the achievements of Galileo, Newton and Einstein. Despite the revolutionary nature of his ideas, Maxwell, being a very religious man, always believed that scientific knowledge should have certain limits - limits that, paradoxically, he surpassed like no one else.
