In the near future, our planet will face a new scientific and technological revolution, the digital world, the virtualization of everything and everyone - including organized crime. The mafia’s transition to cyberspace promises it an unprecedented rise in criminal profits; the network organization of international organized crime makes it practically invulnerable to the “old” - national and offline - law enforcement agencies. The mafia has taken aim at the most sacred thing that humanity has - the state. The bosses of the criminal syndicates seek not only to control the global process of transformation of the nation-state into a corporate state, but also to replace the latter with a mafia state. In what cyberspaces will battles with the mafia unfold in the coming years? How will this affect world politics, individual states and each of us? Will the world community, led by the UN, Interpol and Europol, be able to give a worthy response to the enemies of the human race, or will the world plunge into the abyss of criminal lawlessness?
