A well-known journalist is investigating the machinations of a large company, headed by very respected people. A certain lady promises journalist Nick Mason 10 thousand dollars for investigating the death of Mr. Richmond, head of the Mackenzie Corporation. From the man accused of the murder, Nick learns that the real culprit, Lou Spencer, took Richmond's place after his death. Mason's professional interest awakens and he begins an investigation. Spencer's gang threatens him with death. Nick is about to quit this dirty business, but then the mysterious woman calls again.
