Among the hoaxes created by Russian literature of the 20th century, “General History, processed by the Satyricon” (1910) to this day occupies a unique and undisputed place: before us is not just a gigantic skit the length of the entire human history, but also almost the only example of black humor we have - especially black if we remember how this “History” (and just history) had a continuation in the 20th century. The book, created by the great satirists of his time - Teffi, Averchenko, Dymov and O. L. d'Or - has not been reprinted for three quarters of a century, and is now studied in elementary school during extracurricular reading lessons. What amused sophisticated intellectuals at the beginning of the 20th century remained just as funny (but also educational) at the beginning of the 21st century.
