Сюжет, що обертається навколо закоханості Джулії в нареченого її зведеної сестри, виявився надзвичайно захопливим і емоційним. Автор майстерно передає всі тонкощі стосунків між персонажами, їхні внутрішні переживання та моральні дилеми. Джулія, яка щиро бажає щастя Луїзі, але не може впоратися зі своїми почуттями до Джеймса, створює напружену атмосферу, яка тримає в напрузі до останньої сторінки.
