The classic of French literature Roger Martin du Gard (1881–1958) is known in our country for his multi-volume novel “The Thibaud Family,” for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1937. However, Martin du Gard also wrote a number of outstanding literary works, including the story “Old France”, in which serious passions boil behind the sleepy, at first glance, course of life. The story is full of colorful characters who are irresistibly drawn into the cycle of events.
