Автор майстерно переносить читача в епоху 1766 року, де ми стаємо свідками жорстоких реалій життя вугільних шахт Шотландії та жахів работоргівлі. Історія Мак МакЕша та Ліззі Галлім - це не лише романтична пригода, а й глибокий соціальний коментар про боротьбу за свободу та гідність. Персонажі прописані дуже детально, їхні переживання та прагнення до волі викликають співчуття та бажання підтримати їх у цій важкій боротьбі. Хоча переклад тексту має деякі недоліки, це не заважає насолоджуватися захоплюючим сюжетом та емоційною напругою. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто цінує літературу, що піднімає важливі соціальні питання та розкриває людську природу в умовах випробувань!
