The story tells of a writer who was once popular, but now finds himself at the bottom. Sitting in the worst drinking establishment, he still does not know that he has lost a roof over his head, that debts for losing at cards will soon be presented to him, and the only publisher who agreed to publish his work is throwing him a cash handout instead of fulfilling his promise. The writer is in a desperate situation until a letter comes into his hands, informing him of the death of a relative unknown to him. The writer decided to grab hold of the gift of fate and head into her arms. But once he gets there, he realizes that not everything is as rosy as it might seem at first glance...
