This book contains a collection of correspondence that lasted for 13 years between the composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and his philanthropist and patron, Nadezhda Filaretovna von Meck. 45-year-old von Meck was left a widow with huge capital and land. At a difficult moment in Tchaikovsky’s life, she completely took over all his financial support, and largely thanks to her support, we can enjoy Tchaikovsky’s music today. Pyotr Ilyich never personally met Nadezhda Filaretovna, but maybe that’s why it was so easy for him to confess in letters to her, to express his thoughts about music, art in general, politics and many other aspects of human life with such sincerity.
