A container with the body of a woman was found near the country residence of the famous Lehmusoja family in Helsinki. Police Commissioner Paula Pihlaya is taking over the investigation. It gradually becomes clear that the crime is connected to a business that the Lehmusoyas ran in Africa many years ago. A drama is also unfolding in Paula’s own life: in her youth she had to give up her child, and now, twenty years later, her son is accused of murder. Paula is tormented not only by guilt, but also by the question of what she can do to save her son.A. M. Ollikainen is the pseudonym of the spouses Aki (b. 1973) and Milla (b. 1974) Ollikainen. Both are accomplished writers: Aki Ollikainen’s novel “White Hunger” was longlisted for the Booker Prize (2016), and Milla Ollikainen is the author of three detective stories, one of which won the Finnish detective competition “Crime” (Rikos) in 2012. “Container” is their first novel together and won the same competition in 2019. This is the first book in a series of novels about Paula Pihlaya planned by the authors.
