The corpse of a traveler has been found in the wild bush of the Australian state of New South Wales. One might assume that he was killed by an animal, but the bullet wound in his chest prevents him from thinking so. Was it an accident or premeditated murder? Police inspector Napoleon Bonaparte (Boni) was sent to investigate, who more than once successfully unraveled crimes in the bush, because he himself is half-breed - half-aboriginal.
The story was published posthumously and based on on an unfinished manuscript and detailed notes by Upfield, which were completed by J. L. Price and Mrs. Dorothy Strange.
