The text of the message itself is no less surprising. Nirauan is notified that after half a century, the remains of the "Over-Long Flight" - a Jedi research expedition that was mercilessly destroyed by Thrawn - have been found. Now the local inhabitants, true to their duty of honor, want to transfer the remains to the New Republic. Accepting this gesture of goodwill means embarking on a long journey deep into the star cluster where thousands of living beings aboard the Outfarer met their fate. But whatever lies ahead, the Skywalkers will not be alone. Along with them on this strange expedition will go an officer of the post-Palpatine Empire, accompanied by a detachment of Imperial stormtroopers, a group of diplomats from a gentle race of aliens who deeply honor the fallen Jedi, and an ambassador of the New Republic who pursues its mysterious goals. Very soon, due to general suspicion, secrecy and the actions of an unknown saboteur, the atmosphere on board the ship becomes tense. But a much more formidable danger lurks behind the dilapidated bulkheads of the Ultra Long Flight itself, which was buried under the surface of a desert planetoid half a century ago. And the last and most important test will be a deadly trap, skillfully set by enemies whose ruthlessness is legendary... And these enemies are not averse to finishing what Thrawn started - destroying the Jedi.
