Nikolai Aleksandrovich Bernstein (1896–1966) is the creator of the theory of “construction of movements” in humans, the founder of the physiology of activity. In his homeland, Russia, he is known much less than abroad. The book, compiled by his scientific “granddaughter” Vera Talis, is intended to correct the situation: it contains memories of this major scientist and unusual person - a thinker devoted to science, a polyglot and a music lover, distinguished by kindness and at the same time detachment, immersion in his own world. Relatives, students and colleagues who develop his ideas in modern science talk about Bernstein. Those of them who were personally acquainted with the scientist said: “I saw a genius.” The book contains rare historical documents, selected letters from Nikolai Alexandrovich and unique photographs provided by his loved ones.
