Richard never hoped or prepared to become king. He faithfully served his royal elder brother, took part in numerous battles, and fled to Holland with him in 1470-1471. When Edward IV died, a party of influential magnates represented by Lord Hastings and the Duke of Buckingham invited Richard to become regent for his young brother Edward V. But it was soon proven that the boy was a bastard, and Richard found himself on the throne of England. However, power did not bring the last Plantagenet either satisfaction or happiness...

Цей роман молодої московської письменниці вражає своєю глибиною та емоційною наповненість. Історія Річарда III, останнього представника королівського роду Плантагенетів, розкриває складні аспекти його особистості, які часто залишаються в тіні історії. Автор майстерно передає атмосферу епохи, показуючи не тільки політичні інтриги, але й внутрішні переживання героя, який ніколи не сподівався стати королем. Читач відчуває його боротьбу за владу, страхи та сумніви, що робить його образ надзвичайно людяним. Хоча текст перекладено з використанням штучного інтелекту, загалом якість перекладу вражає, і лише в окремих випадках зустрічаються незначні недоліки. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто цікавиться історією та психологією персонажів, адже вона не лише розважає, але й змушує задуматися про ціну влади та амбіцій.
