The book talks about one hundred of them - the most studied by famous archaeologists and historians from different countries. It just so happens that the city ruins of the Middle East, the Balkans, and Mesopotamia are most described, while the ancient cities of Eurasia, Africa and Southeast Asia, as well as the New World, for various reasons, have been ignored by scientists. The author-compiler tries to lift the veil of secrecy over these buildings, many of which are no less interesting and mysterious than their famous “neighbors.”
