The story “Eternity,” written specifically for the anthology “The Magicians,” takes place in the world of Lebbon’s new novel “Twilight,” written in the dark fantasy genre. After the atrocities of the magicians Angel and her brother S’Iwe, magic left this world, and she the land fell into disrepair. The population of the vast continent of Noril lost the will to live, became indifferent and passive. Far to the north lies a large frozen island, where the mages and the remnants of their army fled after the Cataclysm Wars—a hundred years before the events described in the story.
