England. Second half of the 19th century. Everyone touched by Death dies. All except Signa. The beautiful child was not supposed to live even a day after birth. All her life she was raised by guardians, each of whom was destined for one fate - death. One day, having upset the balance between the world of the living and the dead, Signa goes to the only remaining relatives, the Hawthornes, in the Thorn Grove estate, inhabited by spirits. There the girl learns that someone is poisoning all family members with a special poison. Plunging into the dark secrets of the Hawthorne family, Signa realizes that each of them falls under suspicion. To restore balance, the girl needs to make sure that death cannot reach any of the inhabitants of Thorn Grove. Signa soon learns that she must make a deal with Death himself, a charming and dangerous young man.
