The book is devoted to the problem of the formation of the Slavs and their early history. It covers the period from the 2nd millennium BC. e. to the middle of the 1st millennium AD e. At the beginning of this period, an ancient European community existed in Central Europe, from which the Celts, Italics, Illyrians, Germans and Slavs were formed. It ends with the “great migration of peoples.” During this time, the culture of the Slavs developed in interaction with the Celts, Germans, Scythian-Sarmatians and other ancient ethnic groups, and was influenced by the provincial Roman civilization.
