Having shot a man while arresting him, Kurt Wallander becomes depressed and decides to leave the police. When a lawyer he has known for a long time asks Wallander to look into the suspicious circumstances of his father’s death, he categorically refuses. But soon the lawyer himself is killed with three shots, and Wallander realizes that he has made an unforgivable mistake. He returns to work to investigate a double murder. However, having started the hunt for the criminal, the inspector himself becomes the target of the hunt.
