The name of A. S. Popov (1859–1905) is inscribed in golden letters in the history of Russian and world science. The result of his many years of experience in the field of radio communications was the creation in 1895 of the world's first radio receiver. Popov's priority in this area is disputed in the West, where other scientists are considered the creators of radio - G. Marconi, O. Lodge, N. Tesla.
