In the rain forests of Hawaii, Billy Cranston, a Vietnam War veteran, died under mysterious circumstances. Private detective Jack Devlin, hired by the father of the deceased, retired general Jasper Cranston, is sent to investigate the causes of his death.

Billy’s fate on the islands turns out to be of no interest to anyone. “A tramp, a drug addict, a degenerate person” died. Jack Devlin is surprised and outraged by the opposition of the police, who are clearly not interested in solving the crime.
