In the “Memoir” section, fragments from “Autobiography of a Forger” are published - a book by the English artist and restorer Eric Hebborn (1934–1996), who flooded famous museums and private collections with high-quality fakes of Italian masters of the past. We have before us a rather coherent justification for forgery: “...contrary to popular belief, a painting or drawing simply cannot be fake, just like any other work of art.
