The novel “Aldan’s Gold” consists of two books: “Skitniki” and “Aldan’s Gold”. In the first, the reader gets acquainted with the life history of the Old Believer community, which originated in the Vetluga forests in the mid-19th century, overcame a difficult path through Siberia and settled in the Trans-Baikal Territory, was then pushed into the wilderness of the Aldan Highlands and is buried there to this day. The book “The Gold of Aldan” tells about the dramatic events in the life of the community in the period from 1935 to 1955, when its fate was closely intertwined with the fate of the White Guard colony, formed by the surviving participants of the Yakut campaign of General Pepelyaev’s squad.

Автор майстерно описує життя людей, які, незважаючи на всі труднощі, зберегли свою віру та традиції. Читач може відчути атмосферу епохи, коли старовірці намагалися знайти своє місце в світі, що змінюється. Драматичні події, що відбуваються в період з 1935 по 1955 роки, додають напруги та емоційності, а також змушують задуматися про цінність людського життя та спільноти. Хоча переклад тексту іноді має недоліки, загальна якість твору та його зміст компенсують ці моменти. Рекомендую всім, хто цікавиться історією, культурою та людськими переживаннями!
