The book “Fatal Decisions of the Wehrmacht”, first published in a small edition in 1958, during the period of Khrushchev’s “thaw”, today has found its rebirth. This is not an ordinary memoir. Being written in 1946 - 1948. on behalf of the US Department of Defense by a group of German generals who found themselves in American captivity, it is dedicated to the largest defeats of the Wehrmacht in the Second World War. The book is intended for the general reader, who gets a unique opportunity to learn first-hand how the “fatal decisions” were made by the German high command, and to get acquainted with the point of view of representatives of the military elite of the Third Reich on the reasons for the failures and crushing defeats of the German army in 1940 - 1945 .
