Leslie Waller, a former intelligence officer, crime reporter, and head of public relations (PR), wrote his first novel at the age of 19. “The Banker” is the first novel in the “Saga of the Banker” trilogy, which also includes the novels “Family” and “The American.” The action in this novel takes place at the very beginning of the 60s, so many signs of the era will only evoke nostalgic memories among the older generation. But in the novel there is detail in the description of the activities of the world's largest bank, there is politics, a banker and his family, a woman making a career, love in the afternoon... and all this against the backdrop of financial intrigue, of course. The lines of the novel offer an answer from the 60s to questions about the role of banks and money, which many Russian readers began to ask themselves only at the end of the century.
