Patrick Suskind is one of the most popular writers of the twentieth century. True, he is often called the author of only one novel – “Perfumer”. Having become acquainted with this book, the reader will easily be convinced that such an opinion is wrong. Under one cover are collected the story “The Dove” (“a small masterpiece in prose”), four relatively short but undoubtedly interesting stories and the play “Double Bass,” Suskind’s first work, which raises the theme of the “little” man. Here the author reveals himself as a magnificent psychologist, a hoaxer, a person endowed with a subtle sense of humor and rare imagination.
