Автор майстерно поєднує історичні факти з вигаданими подіями, створюючи захоплюючий сюжет, в якому молодий жебрак Крісто Бастардо намагається знайти своє місце в світі, що стрімко змінюється. Я був вражений глибиною персонажів і їхніми переживаннями, які відображають не лише особисті драми, але й великі соціальні та культурні зміни того часу. Описані сцени бійок, кохання та інтриг настільки яскраві, що я відчував себе частиною цієї епохи. Хоча переклад іноді має незначні недоліки, це не заважає насолоджуватися історією.
