This book is the first published in Russian travel diary of an expedition to Western Tibet, to the sacred Mount Kailash, undertaken in 1935 by the famous Italian orientalist Giuseppe Tucci (1894-1984). The tireless explorer of the Himalayas and the Land of Snows made 14 expeditions to different regions of Tibet and Nepal, during which priceless collections of ancient manuscripts and monuments of art were collected, and for the first time new routes were laid along the previously unknown to Europeans high-mountain paths of the Roof of the World. D. Tucci is the author of fundamental works devoted to Indian and Tibetan religion, philosophy, culture and art. Books such as “Tibetan Manuscript Scrolls”, “Theory and Practice of Mandalas”, “History of Indian Philosophy” have become generally recognized classics of world oriental thought. This translation from Italian is based on the first edition, published in 1937, taking into account the most significant corrections and additions , subsequently introduced by the author, is preceded by an introductory article - an outline of the life and scientific activities of the scientist, and is also provided with comments and numerous photographs taken by the scientist during the expedition. The book is of interest both to orientalists and to a wide range of readers interested in Eastern philosophy and culture. The publishing layout is saved in PDF A4 format.
