In Dmitry Kedrin's one-volume works, Rembrandt usually stands apart as the only dramatic work. But it should be clarified that this is the only Kedrin drama in verse that has come down to us. For the first time, “Rembrandt” was published in three issues of the magazine “October” in 1940. The preparatory period for its creation took the author about two years, and it took him directly to write it only a month and a half. Kedrin was even embarrassed to admit it later. Konstantin Simonov, for example, believed that “Rembrandt,” written in beautiful poetry, required several years of work. Vladimir Lugovskoy spoke interestingly about this extraordinary work: “In his greatest and most powerful work, the play about Rembrandt, Kedrin showed us an artist rich in spirit... an artist who wrote truthfully, honestly and incorruptibly. And this contains a lot of creative characteristics of Kedrin himself.”

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
