The provincial town of Sanctuary, which not so long ago became part of the mighty Rankan Empire. Local residents call it the World of Thieves - the bulk of the townspeople are criminals (former and current) and bankrupt adventurers. This story is about Mr. Meliloth, his scriptorium (scribe's office) and one of his employees - a girl named Zharvina. One afternoon, the captain of the Sanctuary city guard came to the scriptorium with a certain scroll in the hope that Melilot or one of his people would read it. But the scroll turned out to be enchanted, and the uninitiated could not read it.
