A mysterious and seditious ritual performed by the primarch of the Seventeenth Legion forever changed the daily routine of the World Eaters. While Primarch Angron, who has received the gifts of Chaos, chained to the lower decks of the Conqueror, fights with internal demons, filling the cruiser with a mad roar, the rest of the Devourers while away their days in bloody duels. Uncertainty, on the one hand, and the Butcher's Nails, on the other, leave even such a butcher as Khârn a lot of doubt: is the legion itself doomed to the fate that was in store for the primarch? Will there be any humanity left in the World Eaters or will they turn into howling psychopaths and chained lunatics? Where will the legion lead their new eightfold path, from which they will never be able to return?
