This book is dedicated to amulets - magical ways of protecting a person and his world from danger. For the first time, based on the material of the pan-Slavic tradition, a model of the amulet is presented, its semantics and specific forms of its implementation in ritual texts, actions, objects and rituals are described, and a description of the pragmatics of the verbal amulet is given. The monograph uses folklore and ethnographic sources of the 19th-20th centuries, as well as modern expeditionary materials from Polesie, the Ukrainian Carpathians and the Russian North. The book is intended for ethnolinguists, folklorists and ethnographers, as well as for readers interested in the problems of Slavic traditional culture.
